"“The details are not the details. They make the design.”
Charles Eames
This year, I had the pleasure of attending the Brussels Design Market 2025 at Tour & Taxis in Brussels, and it was truly a feast for the senses. The event brought together an incredible mix of designers, artisans, and enthusiasts, all celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation in interior design.
Tour & Taxis is a fascinating space — a beautifully restored 19th-century industrial site that used to serve as a freight and customs hub for ships. Its expansive halls, high ceilings, and historic architecture make it the perfect setting for showcasing design, blending history and modern creativity in a truly unique atmosphere.

Walking through the market, I was inspired by the variety of styles on display — from sleek contemporary pieces to timeless vintage treasures. Every corner offered something unique: handcrafted furniture, bespoke lighting, eclectic décor, and even plant-inspired installations that perfectly bridged interior and garden design.

Lighting Treasures at the Brussels Design Market 2025
As I wandered through the market at Tour & Taxis, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the incredible lighting on display. From vintage lamps designed by renowned designers, to pieces that once hung in a German church, to charming finds rescued from the cellars of newly bought apartments—or even lovingly kept by grandmas before being swapped for modern IKEA fixtures—each lamp tells its own story. This gallery captures the beauty, history, and character of these illuminating treasures.

The highlights and the polish touch
One of the highlights for me was seeing how designers are blending functionality with aesthetics. Small, thoughtful details — whether in color palettes, textures, layouts, or the perfect lighting — can completely transform a space. I was especially captivated by the Polish touch at the market: the amazing stand of Mazur & Hoffman, a genius vintage shop, and even a chair by Józef Chierowski that reminded me of an early childhood living room in our first home — I think we might still have one tucked away in the attic of our summer house. I left with many fresh ideas that I’m excited to incorporate into future projects.
